In accordance to guidelines issued by the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Department of Health, Fairmont Area Schools will be closed on March 18 through March 27 for teachers to prepare for distance learning if longer school closure may be necessary.
Fairmont Area Schools will be open on Monday and Tuesday March 16 and March 17, 2020. During these two days, there will be regular instruction.
Students will be instructed to remove personal items from their assigned school locker and athletic locker. Student medications should be retrieved from the school nurse by a parent/guardian by the end of the day on March 17.
Anyone that is vulnerable to COVID-19 or sick should stay home.
Fairmont Area Schools will provide daycare to school aged students up to age 12 who are children of school staff, health care workers, first responders, law enforcement personnel, fire fighters and members of the National Guard. Please contact the elementary school office at 238-4487 to schedule day care.
The student meal plan will operate differently next week. Meals will be dropped off only
one day next week on Monday, March 23. At that time students will receive a full-week meal package, which will include 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches. Two new locations and times have been added to the drop-off list:
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Fairmont High School (Horseshoe) 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Fairmont Elementary School (Door #1)
In addition, students may also pick up a full-week meal package at the regular stops: 9:00 a.m.
