Tiffany Harris - K-6 STEM Teacher
About Me:
Hello! My name is Tiffany Harris, and I am thrilled to be Fairmont Elementary's K-6 STEM educator. A little bit about me is that I have a family full of boys, with three of them all attending Fairmont Elementary School as well. They keep us busy by being involved in just about all of the things. This includes most sports and robotics which my husband and I are actively involved in coaching many of the programs. We also enjoy being outside camping, at the pool or the beach, going for bike rides, walks with our dog, or doing just about anything that keeps our bodies moving and the energy burning! :)
I have a deep commitment to fostering a love for learning in young minds. My approach to teaching is centered around building meaningful relationships with my students, as I believe that a strong connection is the foundation for a successful learning journey. I’m passionate about creating a collaborative classroom environment where students feel empowered to work together, share ideas, and tackle challenges.
In my STEM classroom, I focus on nurturing critical thinking skills through engaging and hands-on activities. By encouraging curiosity and problem-solving, I strive to help students develop the skills they need to become innovative thinkers and lifelong learners. My goal is to inspire a sense of wonder and excitement about the world of science, technology, engineering, and math, all while supporting each student’s unique learning path.
I’m excited to embark on this educational adventure with my students, guiding them as they explore, discover, and grow.
Why STEM?
STEM education provides children with opportunities to explore hands on problems in combination with science, technology, engineering, and math. It challenges students with the necessary skills that make them creative problem solvers, promotes technical skills, and nurtures creative and collaborative skills in our students.
Communication. Collaboration. Creativity. Critical Thinking
The 4 C's are deemed as core 21st century skills for higher education, the job market, and society in general. They are also seen as vital skills needed in innovation and design-focused environments. The 4-Cs empower students to search, learn, and apply content knowledge to solve problems, which are crucial skills for young learners.
